Michael Vey 5 Storm of Lightning edition by Richard Paul Evans Children eBooks

I have enjoyed every book in this series, with the exception of book two which almost caused me to lose my cookies. I'm still trying to decide if I want to recommend this series to my twelve year old grandson. Book two is the only cause of my hesitation. Otherwise it's a great series that is right up my grandson's alley. It would rank right up there with the Harry Potter series. Parents and or grandparents may want to read this series before making their own decision on whether to encourage their children to read it. I especially enjoyed the fact that Mr. Evans didn't use half of succeeding books to replay previous books. He keeps each book moving with fast action, suspense, and unique plots. There's never the feeling that you've read this plot before. I'm looking forward to book six.

Michael Vey 5 Storm of Lightning edition by Richard Paul Evans Children eBooks Reviews

Overall I have enjoyed the series. However this book is very week. The author spend page after page going scenery to the point that two characters taking a uneventful walk before dinner takes up a whole chapter. They where times when I feel asleep reading because I was so bored with the story. This book could have been cut down to 1/4 of its size, and it would loose nothing.

I gave this book 3 stars because if you can make it to the last few chapters the story picks up. I feel that the last few chapters set up the story nicely for a final book. I will buy the final book based on its potential, but to be honest this book is a lemon that is detrimental to the overall quality of the series.
I don't care if these books are aimed at young adults, I have thoroughly enjoyed the series. I had heard some negative reviews on the book, causing me to hold off for a bit on getting it, but one day I decided the heck with it and got it. And I have to agree with the other reviews. There seemed to be no real plot to the book, seemed more of an update on whats going on. Don't get me wrong, it was terrible, but it feels like this book was only half done.
Loved the concept of the electric children and a truly evil corporation such as the Elgen. Loved the themes of redemption and love. The only complaint I have is the last books in the series seemed rushed and more could have been shown or explained. Michael seemed to become human too easily and the other characters took it for granted.
I love this series, but this didn't really feel like a complete book. Every other book has had climaxes and tension, they have advanced the plot, and they have really added to the story. For every other book if you asked me what they were about I could really tell you the highlights of them. For this book though there was no substance, no interesting parts that caught my interest other than the title. The characters moved around a bit, hatch advanced his plans, and life changes for Hatch's electric children. This book is setting the stage for the next book which I am anxiously waiting for, but I am very disappointed with it. I still recommend everyone who has read the first four books read this one, but do not go in with the same expectations that you have had previously.
Superb story line. This particular book does not contain as much electric sparring as some of the previous books in the series. Even so, the characters exhibit honorable traits such as respect for human life and forgiveness of the contrite heart. This series has inspired my pre-teen grandson to read. Any author able to grab young readers and inspire them to hunger for more deserves our respect and appreciation. One criticism is the authors' incessant use of the word "said". When in school, I had a teacher who prohibited the use of "said" and "that" so when I see them used often, I cringe.
Once again, Mr Evans has not let me down. This book is a wonderful assortment of twists and turns from great adventure. I love that I can recommend this book and any others by Richard Paul Evans to my darling grandchildren without worrying about exposing them to the crassness and profanity that is so prevelant in media these days. These books are just wholesome adventure with strong examples of integrity and honor, the creativity in the plotline keeps the reader engaged and thinking, I love books that stimulate the mind and engage the heart. The Michael Vey series will do the job. Nice work Mr Evans!
I was a little disappointed in this book. I have read them all, and the story was not developed. It was very disappointing that the book ended without even a collision of the two stories together for a confrontation between the Electrocan and Hatch/Elgen. The whole premise of the book was that collision, but it left us waiting for the next book to even address the story of this book. The other books did leave you waiting for the next book, but there was always a resolution of the main theme of the book, i.e. rescuing Jade Dragon or destroying the Ampere.
