There's Just Something About Jackson
When Marcy Deveraux's romance series catapults to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, no one is more surprised than Marcy herself. After all, she barely passed high school, flunked the driving test four times, and fell into a pool at her sister's wedding.
Marcy is keen to continue her literary success, but she cannot think of a single idea for her next book. Hounded by her agent, family, and friends, she decides to sequester herself in a rustic cabin in the mountains. There, she finds herself face-to-snout with a surprise visitor—a rascally black dog who must have escaped from his owner at a nearby campground.
Enter hunky cowboy Jackson Parker, who runs the stables for the campground and helps Marcy survive the antics of the ill-behaved, zany dog. There's something tender and gentle about this man, who could easily grace the cover of any romance novel. Soon Jackson has Marcy rethinking her own beliefs about what heroes are really made of...and what God intends for her life.
It's cowboys, canines, and capers galore in this charming novella for animal lovers.

Handsome cowboy Jackson shows up and makes Marcy question all of her preconceived notions of what a hero really is.It says on the cover 'A Novella for Dog Lovers' and that is absolutely true. I count myself as a dog lover, well animal lover in general, and fell in love with the mischievous dog featured in this story. He's a wonderful little fella'. There was a really great quote in here that I loved so much because it's so true: “That's the great thing about dogs, isn't it? They look at you like you're a hero just for loving them.”
Love at First Bark was a great, short novella that can be read in one afternoon. Highly recommend!

Love at First Bark Free Short Story A Novella for Dog Lovers Love Unleashed edition by Dana Mentink Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
It was a free read, so I didn't feel slighted, but I would not have paid money for this book. At least not more than $1.00. It was cute, and I was curious about the other dog books, but I think they are priced too high for me to invest. She is a good author and I assume she is trying diffedrent genres, but she is better at romantic suspense in my opinion. It was a cute read, just not a great read.
An Adventure Romance Best-seller rents a cabin as a solo writer's retreat to brainstorm & draft her next series. Meanwhile, a wily pup and a sweet cowboy inch their way into Marcy's best laid plans. With a subtle nudge from an attractive stranger-turned-friend, she's about to find out that a worthwhile distraction can help redirect her heart where it needed to be all along.
Sweet romance that took only a few hours to read. Appreciated the no vulgar language between the pages, and that the characters reference their faith more than once to help them follow their dreams.
Plotline is very light weight. Her reaction toward Charlie was not very sympathetic or compassionate so I found it hard to warm up to this character and couldn't shake that feeling through the remainder of the story.
Was a free download, thanks by the way, but would have paid too much at $.99 .
Marcy is a best selling author who has rented a cabin to get away for awhile to write her next bestseller. One day while attempting to come up with a storyline, she’s confronted by two balls of fur chasing each other throughout her cabin.
Jackson is the cowboy that comes to her rescue when she tries to chase the to furry creatures out of her house. His day job is running the stables at the campground. He points out to her that the “porcupine”, is in fact a dog that had been running through hay.
I was looking for a good short story that would tug at my heartstrings, but sadly this wasn’t it. The writing is good, characters at times are one dimensional, and the plot is balanced, just a bit rushed (which sometimes happens with a short story). I’m not sure if I will continue with this series at this point.
I was looking for a quick, light read, and this one fit the bill perfectly. In just a short time I was swept into the story with a few giggles. I immediately identified with Marcy as a writer, and I appreciated the message of "what a true hero looks like." Still...I'm not a huge romance lover so that of course means this had too much touching, hugging, and kissing for me. I know it's a short story, but kissing after seeing a guy twice? Yeah...that I didn't care for.
It mentions God and His plans and it was more or less a clean read. I didn't find the spiritual aspect completely convincing but it was at least there.
If you like a short, sweet read, I'm sure you'll enjoy this story.
With a successful trilogy under her belt, Marcy now has writer's block! Settled in a remote cabin for inspiration who should come barging in one day but Charlie, chasing a squirrel. Yes, Charlie is a dog and one that seems to have no owner. Jackson, a cowboy at a local ranch/campsite, comes to her rescue. Marcy really wants to write a cookbook. Should she just follow her heart? What about when one of the special needs boys staying at the ranch gets lost?
For a short book this was a good one. The main characters were surprisingly well developed. Jackson is very real and has a surprising talent. He is also brutally honest about how difficult it is for normal guys to ever match up to the fictional men that authors write about. I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written novella. I downloaded it onto my . I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz
Swift pace and lots of fun, bringing the reader in to a life in search for a future. The little cupid in this story has a unlikely appearance but a heart that rings true to all of us who love canines. Truth and fiction goes hand in hand I think because many people are brought together by their dogs and find they have common interest.
What i found so charming and made me absolutely fall for this story was not just the HEA, or the gorgeous way the characters and the story were described and conveyed, not even the little mischievous one.
It was the way it was told, it gives the reader a generous amount of feel good. Brings a smile to the face, and that occurred already after a few pages, like sheer magic.
~*I think its important to know the standpoint of the reviewers when they write a review, and mine is this I have had a nasty fall that dislocated hip, knee and under-leg, needless to say I’m currently in a wheelchair, not much to smile for since pain is bad and blizzards prevents me from going out. *~
Then you can understand the amazing thing that this book did It made me forget it all and smile, giggle, and feel-good. ♥️
