Tales of Suruale Cythe eBook Roy C Booth Brian Woods Erika Weirich Reviews

This story begins by weaving a fantastic tale of a young man just trying to win the heart of his love, but takes a dramatic turn when his life is uprooted by mysterious strangers. My heart goes out to Cythe on his journey. I enjoyed reading about the events in this story, and cannot wait to encounter this character again. Keep up the good work! Eagerly anticipating more about the people of Suruale!
The follow up Tales of Suruale story gave me a little more into the world but was short enough to keep me begging for more.
In author's Brian Woods and Roy C. Booth's second installment of the Tales of Suruale (following the first title "Davi") we meet Cythe.

Cythe is not like all of the other people in his village--and the people there have begun to notice. The lord of Khorne has called a man from the Order of Assassins to let him take care of things, but when the man gets there, another man has already came--and has done so to take Cythe into his fold for a upcoming war where every man--no matter if they are human, dwarf, etc.--will be needed to win.

And Cythe doesn't have a choice in the matter--he must join them, or be killed because he is an unknown and potentially dangerous element.

This was, just okay for me--two things made it `just okay'. One was that it was too short, not really a problem in itself but it leads into the main thing--I felt there was not really time for a lot of plot development--or even character development.

We learn about Cythe and the upcoming and prophesized war yes and that is interesting but at the came time that is about all we learn it feels much more the like the start of a book instead of the second installment.

I know plot and character development is not really essential in a short story--just that they are interesting--but I still felt that there should have been something--like in Davi.

Davi had both plot and character development, even though it was short as well, this one was just missing it--but I am holding out hope that the next one will pick back up pretty much where we left off with this one and if not with Cythe concerning the same idea--the war.

I will pick up the next installment--I am curious as to the world the authors have created and really enjoyed Davi but overall I can not say that I really enjoyed this installment.

*I received a hardcover/paperback/eBook copy/ARC of this book for free to review from the author/publisher; this in no way influenced my review, all opinions are 100% honest and my own.
Cythe, is the second installment of the Tales of Suruale epic fantasy series. I got the opportunity to get an advance read of this and throughly enjoyed it. The first in the series, Tales of Suruale Davi, introduced a fascinating fantasy world and character, and it was great to return to this rich world that Booth and Woods have created. Cythe delivers with intrigue, action, deception, and new interesting characters.

Continuing the series of Tales of Suruale "Cythe" introduces us to a new character Cythe, while bringing characters we have already met in "Davi."

Cythe is young man on the brink of adulthood. He has perfected his blacksmitting craft to a level far beyond any of his competitors and is ready to take ask for the hand of his love in marriage. His life is becoming complete and he looks forward to a future filled with work, happiness and children.

But Cythe is different from other children in his village. He is taller, stronger, smarter and more talented. Being different can make a child stand out when he would rather not. Cythe does the best he can to hide his abilities and most especially his special gift.

Unbeknownst to Cythe, he is being watched. Watched by the elders of the village, by Salith; The Master of Assians and even more worrisome, The Elders. Together they hatch a plot to remove Cythe from his villiage and control his gifts.

An easy to read short story this is a fun and enjoyable fantasy set in the land of dwarfs, humans and other learning to live together.

Although this is part of a series the story stands well alone. The characters are well developed which is difficult in something this short but they stand up well to the length.

We recommend this for middle school age through adults.

This tale of strength, passion and tough decisions kept me turning the pages! An awesome read! Looking forward to "Davi"!
Although short, it's a good addition to fleshing out the Suruale world. It introduces us to more characters that will be integral to the overall story line. It left me wondering what bigger plans the authors have in store for the final chapters.
